County Council provides Seniors and Accessible Transportation Operating Assistance grants, in consultation with the FCSS Advisory Board. Organizations, agencies, non-profit organizations may apply for Seniors and Special Needs Operating Assistance Grants. Individuals are not eligible.

The Seniors and Accessible Transportation Operating Assistance Grant funds services that provide transportation for seniors or persons with cognitive or physical disabilities, to access medical appointments, shopping, or recreational opportunities.
To be eligible for grant funding applications must meet the following criteria:
- Be a not-for profit organization, agency or municipality and a registered society or group in good standing. (individuals are not eligible)
- Provide transportation services for seniors (65 +) and/or persons with physical or cognitive disabilities to access medical appointments, shopping and or recreational activities.
- Ensure transportation services are available to rural residents
- Municipalities must apply though the Intermunicipal Collaboration Framework (ICF)
Non-eligible funding items:
- Capital expenses of any kind, including purchase of a bus or vehicle.
- Applications that propose using vehicles currently supported through this grant will not be eligible unless no other service exists. In such cases, the applicant must demonstrate consistent per-rider fees aligned with comparable services.
Preference will be given to applications that:
- That provide transportation to County or rural residents for medical and shopping..
- Applications that demonstrate other funding sources, including ridership fees and corporate sponsorship or donation.
- Applications where services are available to the broader population and not limited to member affiliation with a specific organization or facility
Application period is from June 1 to September 1 of each year. All applications must be received by September 1.All applicants must fill out Section I.
This grant application provides funding for transportation operations that take place during the next calendar year (January 1 through December 31) Applications for $5000 and over must complete Section I and II. Failing to do so will disqualify your application.
All successful grant recipients must submit an annual report due by February 1st of following calendar year.
